WHY DOES AN EMPLOYEE HAVE TO BE OFF FOR 3 WORKING DAYS BEFORE A CLAIM CAN BE MADE?

Evidence suggests that injuries or psychological problems that require more than 3 days off work are likely to require some type of intervention either to help the employee recover and return to work or to reduce the likelihood of a recurrence of the condition. However, treatment is available immediately if the employee is involved in a reported motor accident as a driver or passenger, irrespective of fault.
